Current works

Completion timeframes of current works listed below are subject to weather conditions.

We will make every effort to minimise disruptions to traffic, parking and pedestrians during work times.

To help work run as smoothly as possible, we ask pedestrians and motorists to follow any signage and traffic control measures.

Road works

Long Beach, Cullendulla Drive

Work: Reconstruction and shoulder widening of Cullendulla Drive from the Princes Highway to Kettle Road.

The 800m section of Cullendulla Drive now has two 3.5m wide traffic lanes with 2m wide shoulders, providing the community with improved road safety.

Works are complete aside from the second bitumen seal coat which will be applied in April 2019 followed by permanent line-marking.

Both lanes are now open to traffic and the 40km/h speed limit no longer applies.

Culverts were widened and installed followed by road widening and realignment works.

The old road surface was ripped up in October and base gravel was imported.

The road was sealed with the first coat of bitumen in November and swept soon after to remove any loose stones.

Restoration of off-road areas was undertaken with work on batters, table drains and access to properties.

The final touches of this project including installing guide posts and temporary line marking were applied in late November.

This project is funded by the Australian Government's Bridges Renewal Program ($202,021), the State Government's Restart NSW Program ($668,204) and Council's Capital Works Program ($385,400).

Tomakin, George Bass Drive & Tomakin Road

Work:  A roundabout is being built at the intersection of George Bass Drive and Tomakin Road. Sunpatch Parade has been realigned and connected to the roundabout providing a new entrance into Tomakin village.

Asphalting works are scheduled for 6 to 8 December and commuters are advised to seek alternative routes where possible. Commuters who cannot avoid the area should expect significant delays.

This project is made possible by a $3.5 million grant received from the Australian Government's Building Our Future Program.

Batemans Bay, Crown & Bent Streets

Work: Sections of Bent and Crown Streets will be rebuilt. New stormwater drainage, kerb and guttering will be installed followed by a new road surface.

Timeframe: The project has been deferred to February 2019. This page will be updated when the start date is confirmed.

Shire-wide, Roadside Weed Spraying

Work: We will be spraying urban and rural roadsides, including the Kings Highway, to control the growth of woody weeds, shrubs and trees.

Metsulfuron (Brush-Off) and Glyphosate (Roundup) will be used to reduce hazards caused by tree and shrub growth and help protect road pavements from tree root damage.

Motorists are asked to take care around slow-moving spraying vehicles.

Tuross Head, Andrew Ave & Anderson Ave

Work:  A new road surface will be applied to Andrew Avenue and Anderson Avenue between Gould and Meakin Streets following on from the recent drainage upgrade.

To prepare the area for the new bitumen seal the existing road surface will be removed.

During this work there will be a gnificant impact on road use however every attempt will be made to minimise disruption to residents. Traffic control will be in place with affected roads open to residents only.

If access to residential properties is affected, staff will notify residents individually.

Batemans Bay, Beach Road

Work: We are upgrading Beach Road between Orient Street and Vesper Street (Princes Highway).

Additional turning lanes and pedestrian facilities are being constructed to increase safety and ease congestion in the CBD.

Upcoming temporary road closure: Beach Road will be closed between the Princes Highway and Perry Street from 6pm to 6am on Sunday 9 December. More information on the road closure

Cullendulla Creek Nature Reserve

Work: Realignment of the existing sewer rising main running from the council facility at the northern end of Myamba Parade, Surfside to the pump station at the southern end of Nuyen Place, Long Beach.

The new pipe will be located further inland than the existing sewer main, passing deep beneath Cullendulla Creek Nature Reserve and Cullendulla Creek.

Cullendulla Creek Nature Reserve will remain open during works.

South Durras, Lakeside Drive

Work: The lakeside parking area will be formalised with the provision of kerb and gutter, a new footpath, road surfacing and improved drainage. The boat ramp will be extended to tie in with the new car park.

Access to properties will not be affected. We will need to close the boat ramp occasionally to allow for the works to be completed. All attempts will be made to have the boat ramp open on weekends. Kayaks will be able to launch from the beach area at all times.

Surf Beach, Beach Road

Work: Improvements to drainage either side of Beach Road between Jerupa Close and Newth Place.

The works include installing stormwater pipes as well as kerb and gutter along the eastern side of Beach Road to reduce sedimentation issues in Wimbie Creek. Additionally, we will extend the culverts under Beach Road at Wimbie Creek.

The drainage works are necessary before we can extend the shared pathway 335m  along Beach Road from High View Avenue to George Bass Drive. The work will also allow improvements to be made to the intersection of Beach Road and Jerupa Close.

Minor traffic disruptions may occur during the construction period.

Moruya Airport, Bruce Cameron Drive

Work: Redevelopment of the Moruya Airport, including terminal and runway upgrades, increased passenger and aircraft parking and expanded commercial and tourism spaces.

Wallaga Lake, Bermagui Road

Work: The intersection of Bermagui Road and Umbarra Road will be upgraded to improve road safety.

Bermagui Road will be widened to provide a right hand turn lane into Umbarra Road to allow through traffic to safely pass turning vehicles.

The project will also involve the installation of signage to the Wallaga Lake community.

Traffic control measures will be in place and commuters should expect minor delays during construction.

Timeframe: 5 November to 21 February, weather permitting. (Work will cease from 21 December to late January 2019)

Kiora, Stewarts Road

Work: Gravel re-sheeting a 500m stretch of Stewarts Road from Araluen Road. This work is part of our annual Gravel Re-sheeting Program.

Traffic control measures will be in place and commuters should expect minor delays.

Timeframe: 13 to 17 December, weather permitting.

Wamban, Donalds Creek & Mymossa roads

Work: Gravel re-sheeting a stretch of Donalds Creek Road from Wamban Road to Mymossa Road followed by a section of Mymossa Road to the grid. This work is part of our annual Gravel Re-sheeting Program.

Works will also include reshaping parts of Donalds Creek Road.

Traffic control measures will be in place and commuters should expect minor delays.

Timeframe: 4 to 13 December, weather permitting.
