Council Life

When: Tuesday 1 August 2017, 10am - 3pm

Running from 10am to 3pm on Eurobodalla Shire Council’s front lawn, Council Life is a one day pop up festival held to celebrate Local Government Week.

Local Government Week provides the perfect opportunity to promote Council's important role under this years theme, ‘Discovery Diversity Democracy’. Our community can discover more about Council, learn more about its diversity and see democracy at work.

The festival will feature a fun program of activities and Council stalls, with local personality, Ian Campbell from About Regional as the Master of Ceremonies.

Festival highlights include:

  • Pop up coffee shop to meet with our local Councillors
  • ‘Careers in Council’ spinning chocolate wheel
  • Water modelling and traffic modelling displays
  • Surveying and grader laser demonstrations
  • Interactive stalls showcasing Council services
  • A mock community Public Forum for local high school students
  • Fun children’s play area including making their own bee hotel
  • Local story book readings by the Mayor
  • Sausage sizzle by Council’s customer service staff

Like any festival, there will be music and entertainment, fun activities, giveaways, and yummy food and coffee.

About Local Government Week

NSW councils provide invaluable services to local communities, 365 days a year. While many people are aware that councils manage rates, roads and rubbish, the breadth and diversity of their work often goes unrecognised.

Local Government Week provides the perfect opportunity to promote the importance of councils and the variety of services they provide to residents, ratepayers, businesses – the whole community.

Local Government Week this year will be held from 31 July - 6 August 2017.
