Small business friendly Council
The NSW Office of the Small Business Commissioner (OSBC) has partnered with the NSW Business Chamber to develop a ground-breaking new program to increase the number of councils working proactively with small businesses.
The Small Business Friendly Councils (SBFC) Program is a first for Australia, giving councils willing to make small business a priority the opportunity to be recognised as 'Small Business Friendly'.
The OSBC and NSW Business Chamber want to improve the overall business climate for small businesses in NSW and raise awareness of the difference local government can make by better engaging with small business.
Councils who sign up to the Program commit to a Charter which sets out a number of benchmarks councils must agree to meet to foster and support small businesses in their area.
The Small Business Friendly Councils Program was launched on 17 September 2014. Currently, 63 councils in NSW have joined the Program, demonstrating their commitment to their local small business community.
