NBN Network

Eurobodalla is one step closer to connecting to the nbnTM network

The nbnTM network is Australia's new landline phone and internet network. It's designed to provide you with access to fast and reliable phone and internet services, no matter where you live.1

Homes and businesses in parts of Eurobodalla are one step closer to enjoying the nbnTM network, as planning is underway to connect more than 20, 600 premises to the nbnTM fixed line network.

Construction was completed in parts of Batemans Bay, including the suburbs of;  Denhams Beach, Sunshine Bay, Surf Beach, Batehaven, Batemans Bay, Catalina, Long Beach, Maloneys Beach, North Batemans Bay and Surfside this year.

Construction will commence in Tuross Head for approximately 1,500 premises at the end of October 2017. The rollout will start for 2,300 premises in Moruya and Moruya Head in November 2017, along with 4,200 premises in Narooma. The rollout will then move to 5,200 premises in the Mossy Point area in the first half of 2018.

Residents can expect to see nbnTM construction partner:

  • Installing cable through existing underground pipes or on existing overhead power poles.
  • Digging and/or drilling on public property such as under footpaths or on nature strips.
  • Installing pits, similar to the telecommunications pits you may already see in your area and new nbn cabinets and equipment.

It usually takes 9 to 12 months from the start of construction to a premise being ready for service.

The choice of technology is decided by nbnTM based on the best solution for the location with several factors considered, including geographical location, existing infrastructure, cost and time to build.

nbnTM offers a Technology Choice program to interested parties that provides an option to pay for a switch to an alternative nbn™ network technology.

Fixed Wireless

9 of 15 Fixed Wireless facilities now in service providing nbn coverage to over 3,400 homes and businesses. Civil construction works is complete on facilities in Potato Point, Bodalla, Nangudga, Beashel Hill, Grants Lookout and Corunna Village. These facilities will provide nbn to a further 1,300 premises, expected to be ready for service before the end of the year (October/November)

Those who cannot access nbn's fixed line or fixed wireless technologies can connect to the network through the Sky MusterTM satellite service which is available now. Homes and businesses can order a service today through one of nine satellite internet service provider to determine the package that best suits their needs and arrange for installation and connection.

Connecting to the nbnTM network is not automatic so people should contact their phone or internet provider to discuss their needs and make the switch. Residents and businesses can find out more about how to make the transition to the network.

  • Your experience, including the speeds actually achieved over the nbnTM network, depends on the technology over which services are delivered to your premises and some factors outside our control (like your equipment quality, software, broadband plans and how your service provider designs its network).
  • We're designing the nbn™ network to provide these speeds to our wholesale customers, telephone and internet service providers.  End user experience, including the speeds actually achieved over the nbn™ network, depends on the technology over which services are delivered to your premises and some factors outside our control like your equipment quality, software, broadband plans, signal reception and how the end user's service provider designs its network.
